Driving Uninsured car blues + What happens at a preliminary inquiry?
I got a "must appear in court" ticket along with a notice to appear in court within 3 days for a preliminary hearing.What happens at a preliminary hearing.
I got a ticket for driving an uninsured vehicle.The car I was driving used to be mine but I sold it to someone and only have a bill of sale to prove that.I did take in the bill of sale to MVA (Maryland Vehicle Administration)to prove that I had sold the car and was no lnger responsible for the insurance.MVA accepted this and told me to pay a penalty for the month that I did own it.
The buyer, on the other hand, never went into mva to register the car and has been using it unregistered and uninsured.I recently got back possession of the car and was driving home when i was pulled over and got the must appear ticket.
Am I responsible for the whole time that the buyer did not have the car insured?That is, from 3/18/06 till jan08.
When i go to court what could I expect?
whenever the cars in your name, your responsible for the insurance. however if the title was signed over to him. he would be automaticaly responsible for insurance.
