YA I MEAN RESISTOR THANKS
I think you might be refering to a resistor. They use them to change electric motor speeds. For instance they use one for your blower motor so you can switch the speeds for your heater. The lower you turn it the larger the resistor used. If you only have high speed chances are the resistor is bad.
