An off-road trip can be an exciting and adrenaline-pumping four-wheel drive adventure, but it can also be dangerous if you don't prepare adequately. Many off-road locations that have ideals trails for your adventure are in remote locations without easy access to water, food, or emergency services. With that in mind, you should prepare in case of emergency or for any event that might arise.

Chances are, if you're into off-road trips, you've already got the vehicle. Your Jeep, Land Rover, or Rock Crawler is probably tricked out and ready for whatever the trail might have in store. You may even have a tool box in the back in case anything happens mechanically. But people often have a tendency to get the vehicle ready and then forget to prepare everything else. First of all, you'll need plenty of water. You may not have access to fresh water, so you'll need to bring drinking water with you. It's better to bring too much than too bring too little and run out. Also, it's a good idea to take two-way radios if you're in a group, just in case you get separated and you're in an area without cell phone reception.

You should also keep a first aid kit in the car in case of accidents or emergencies. If you're out in the middle of nowhere and someone gets injured, a first aid kit may be the difference between life and death. Be sure to bring plenty of food as well. In a rough and tumble sport like off-road adventuring, you should prepare for any and every contingency.
