What is the "true" invoice on a 2009 Sonata GLS?
I'm looking into a 2009 Sonata GLS with automatic transmission, no other options. The MSRP that I found was $19,900, and the invoice is only a thousand or so less than that. I'm pretty sure that its an inflated figure.
The dealer says the $2,000 factory and $2,000 dealer-consumer rebates are as low as he can go, but I find myself doubting him. Does anyone have any advice?

Try another Hyundai dealer and see if they can beat that offer. I only see the $2000 rebate on http://www.hyundaiusa.com/financing/specialoffers/special_offers.aspx so if the dealer is taking another $2000 off a 2009 for you then that sounds like a great deal, you are only paying $15,900 for a Sonata I don't think you'll be able to do any better then that. Of course the dealer and saleman want to make some money too and yes there is a profit built into the invoice price and dealers that sell a high volume also get a factory kickback incentive of a few $100's per vehicle. Base models on most cars don't have much profit though, its all the extra features you add that make them a fatter profit. Maybe you can ask for free oil changes for 2 years or something also.
