Understanding the Basic Annuity Premium Options
Annuities are attractive investment vehicles as they offer the annuity owner tax deferment on their underlying investment. The primary purpose of a level premium choice would be to receive a pre-determined amount of income at a specified retirement age in the future for the account holder. Flexible premiums allow the annuity owner to make deposits of any amount into their annuity account on an annual basis. The income stream available to the annuity owner in retirement will be dependent upon the total amount of premiums made into the account and the total amount of capital appreciation the account experienced.
