How To Get The Nicest Hotel Room
Whether you are going away for a week or a weekend, no doubt you will have already experienced how tricky it can be to find the right hotel. With wide range of promotions, enticing websites and slick promotional material available it can seem like a daunting tssk so what can you do to make sure that you choose the hotel that is right for you?
Before you start your search you need to decide on a suitable budget so that you can realistically decide on what sort of hotels you can look at. You should take into account factors such as how long you intend to stay for, how many rooms you will require, whether you will need to cater for yourself and of course the distance you will be travelling there and back as this will inevitably lead to a decision on what mode of transport is most cost effective.
When you have narrowed down your search to a handful of hotels then there are a number of ways you can narrow down your list. Websites such as Expedia, Travelocity or indeed Google Maps will allow you to view your hotels on a maps so you will be able to clearly see their location and whether they are near amenties or attractions that you may wish to visit. Sites like Travelocity are particularly good as they allow you to compare several hotels side by side, making it much easier for you to weigh up factors such as amenities, star ratings, room types and of course - rates.
Most of the Hotel booking sites will allow you to select certain facilities and amenities when you are searching. For example, you may be looking for a gym, restaurant or perhaps a swimming pool. Alternatively if you are taking your children with you then you will want to check whether there are any special deals or family-friendly policies.
If you prefer to avoid going to the obvious big chain hotels then there are still lots of options as there are plenty of B&B's, smaller independant hotels and inn's that dont appear on the major hotel search engines. It may take a little ingenuity, however most smaller hotels and B&B's have websites these days and it shouldn't be too difficult to track them down with a simple Google search.
If the nature of your business requires that you travel a lot then not only will you benefit from frequent flier miles (if you choose to go abroad) but it may also be worth joining up with a hotel loyalty scheme. By doing this you will be able to accumulate points that will earn you reductions on future hotel stays and you may also be able to earn additional miles if your hotel is partnered with a frequent flier program. Take a moment to browse the hotel's website to find out whether they have a list of qualifying partners.
Don't limit your search to the internet as you will be surprised what you can achieve with a few phone calls. Not only will you be able to take advantage of potential last minute deals, but some hotels may also offer you a reduction by booking over the phone.
