Protection for the Inner Auto Mechanisms
A BMW’s power relies heavily on precise interaction between engine parts. After all, the German carmaker boasts of producing the ‘ultimate driving machines.’ No matter how intricate and reliable the engine parts are though, the entire system needs a sort of defense to fend off unwanted external elements, damaging sunrays, and even avoid disrupting the smooth aesthetic flow of BMW’s exterior appearance. Guarding BMW’s engine system is the BMW Hood, which is basically a cover with hinges designed and manufactured as a protective gear for most of the interior motor mechanisms, such as the engine, radiator, brake, transmission, and clutch. A concealed latch keeps the hood in place, even as hood pins are added for racing cars. Since the hood is placed over the motor-driven mechanisms, special enhancements can also be installed on the hood. For better exhaust purposes, the power bulge or hood scoop, which houses air filters, could be added on the BMW Hood. Moreover, the wiper jets, where soap and water for the windshield are pumped from, are also found on the hood.
Engine parts eventually succumb to wear and tear. This is addressed with regular oil change and engine tuneup. A BMW hood, on the other hand, protects the engine from impacts. As a result, the held is sometimes left with dents, or worst, cracks. To continue protecting the unprotected, a damaged hood must be replaced immediately. Aftermarket hoods are usually crafted out of carbon fiber, dry carbon, or fiberglass, while the stock hoods, or those made by the automakers like BMW, are usually constructed from steel or aluminum. It is good to note, however, that hoods also add to the overall sleek look of the vehicle, depending on the color, shape, or decals attached to them. Securing the ultimate driving machine, however, remains as BMW hood’s official designation.
