Name That Person!
Some of you are really too young to remember the radio program that started in 1952 that pitted two contestants against each other. Yes, I said radio! Okay, how about TV then? The same program ran on NBC and CBS in prime time from 1953-1959 and it was called?
Name That Tune!
This is going to sound really too simple but for purposes of remembering your Christian roots, let's play NAME THAT PERSON!
>An angel predicted his arrival.
>He was born in a manger.
>His mother was called the Immaculate
>He was born of a virgin.
>A star stood still in the heavens to mark the location.
>He was the only begotten son
>His earthly father was Jo-seph and of royal descent.
>Wise men came bearing gifts.
>He was called the anointed one, and he that cometh.
>He had to be hid at an early age to escape death.
>He emptied himself of all powers to come to each to save mankind
>We know nothing of his life from 12-30
>The one who baptized him was beheaded
>He delivered a Sermon on the Mount
>He was transfigured on the mount
>His ministry began at age 30 and lasted for less than three years.
>He was crucified and died between two thieves
>He raised the dead.
>He was buried in a tomb
>He was sent to hell for 3 days
>His resurrection was announced by women who had helped his ministry
>It's said he will return for a 1,000 year reign
>He was called the Good Shepherd, the lamb of God, the bread of life, the son on man, the Word, the fisher (associated with Pisces).
And your answer is? Think about it now. I am sure this is really, really hard. No, it's not Superman nor Barack Obama. It's Jesus of Nazareth, who became the CHRISTOS! Did you get the right answer? We would be done with this silly Q&A if it weren't for a little problem.
You see, the above also describes HORUS who is one of the oldest and most significant deities in the Ancient Egyptian religion. He also lived some 3,500 years before Jesus. So, is this the wildest coincidence ever or what?
What indeed!
