Honda Rebel
Upgrading from Honda Rebel to Honda Shadow 600 - How different are they in handling and size?
I am a 5', 100lb woman with a year and a half of riding, and about 2500 miles under her belt. I take it out on the highway a lot (rode it to tennessee and back!) with no issues, but could probably get more out of a bigger bike for the long distance trips.
I started out on a Shadow VLX but took a training course on a Rebel.
The good thing in comparing the VLX and the Rebel is that, at least in my opinion, the VLX has a more comfortable seat which, because of the narrow cut at the front of the seat, may actually put you a bit closer to the ground. I don't know the specific weight difference between the two but the VLX is so light you probably won't notice much of a difference. The VLX and Rebel engines are not that different in terms of how quickly they accelerate or how they perform overall, even with the added cc. The performance of Honda engines is pretty even across the board with the Shadows.
For long travel, the VLX will be more comfortable and has way more options for adding on long distance travel packs. The aftermarket parts available for the VLX is by far more extensive then what is available for the Rebel.
