Honda Odyssey
What do you think of the Honda Odyssey?
My sister and her husband are looking into buying a honda odyssey and they wanted opinions from people who have had them and know what they are like. Is it overall a good vehicle or has anyone experienced any problems? Also, I've heard that it's pretty pricy to up-keep, is that true?
Basically, is it a good vehicle and would you recommend it? And why or why not?
Overall, it's a very refined minivan. If you plan on getting one, I highly recommend the EX or EX-L trim because they come with power sliding doors (the doors are HEAVY without power). Our 2005 has a technology called VCM, which was only available on the EX-L and Touring models, though I'm not sure about the newer models. VCM shuts off 2 or 3 of the 6 cylinders when cruising to save gas. In other words, while cruising, you only run on 4 or 3 cylinders. The transmission is really smooth. Don't get the models that are the first years of each generation, i.e. 1999, 2005, because they tend to have the most problems. Our minivan has weak power steering while braking.
But, overall, it's a great car. Highly recommended.
Another option is the Toyota Sienna, which gets just as good gas mileage and is quieter.
