2010 Ford Focus
Virtually every trim package has been revised for the 2010 Ford Focus. It still isn't the most loaded small sedan on the market, but it does offer enough to entice consumers. Ford has decided to offer practically an overhauled version of every model vehicle it makes in the last couple of years. The most pleasing aspect for consumers to consider is the extremely low cost of maintenance, along with minimal initial purchase price. Again, consumers won't get a lot of frills, but it offers the kind of reliability once associated with a Toyota car.
Trim packages available include the S, SE, SEL, and SES. Coupes and sedan body styles are both offered, with only sedans coming in all four trim packages. The basic S package comes with basic power accessories, 15 inch steel wheels, AC, and an optional satellite radio. Available on SE models are a lot more options. For a mid-level trim package, the SE models come with relatively limited options being offered. Included for these models are full power accessories, sync capabilities, rear spoiler, fog lamps, optional 6 CD changer, audio controls mounted on the steering wheel, and a optional sunroof.
SEL models come with chrome exterior highlights, complete leather seating, heated mirrors, enhanced suspensions, and optional heated front seats. SES trim packages are offered with 17 inch allow wheels, more enhanced body styling, highway tuned suspension. Both the SEL and SES models have been designed as the high-end trim packages, though they are easily outdone with amenities by similar cars in it's class.
The only engine offered for the 2010 Ford Focus is the 2.0 liter inline four cylinder that can give 140 horsepower. The standard transmission for these engines is a 5 speed manual, while there is a four speed automatic offered as optional equipment. The engine may be slightly underpowered for the size of the vehicle, only being capable of accelerating from 0-60 mpg in 9.7 seconds. One of the best aspects however is the overall fuel consumption. Most models will receive between 24 mpg city and 35 mpg highway for Manual Transmission equipped vehicles. Models that have the automatic transmission lose approximate 2 mpg in both city and highway driving.
A unique feature of these vehicles is the ability of parents to set limits for vehicle speed and stereo volume levels. The purpose of these controls is to make teens focus on driving, eliminating most distractions and dangerous activities. For frontal crash test ratings the 2010 Ford Focus received a 4 star rating, while side impact tests received a perfect score. The scores fall in line with most vehicles in the small sedan class.
Possibly the most pleasant aspect of these cars is night time driving. When the sun goes down and the dashboard lights up, the vehicle takes on a futuristic feel. The backlighting and accessories look very modern giving an impressive appeal for drivers and passengers to enjoy. Even with basic seats the vehicle remains fairly comfortable and rear passengers have enough room to not feel overly cramped.
For consumers who only need a budget style small sedan that is more adept at fitting their financial situation than crazy desires, the 2010 Ford Focus will do just fine. Consumers looking for a really stylish car that is loaded to max may have to look elsewhere. The parental controls make this an ideal vehicle for teens, with the possibility of seriously limiting the chances of an accident. The interior is very modern (especially at night), and offers enough comfort to make long trips enjoyable. Engine performance is probably the most limiting factor of the Focus.
