2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Windshield Fogging?
I just bought a used 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Dual Zone Climate control. The control seems to be working ok switching between heat and cool, but the windshield is fogging up when the defroster is turned on. It is kind of too cool to see if the A/C is working properly, but seems to be. Could it be something simple I am overlooking?
If the fogging stays on the windshield and creates an oily film then the heater core is probably leaking inside the dash. If not then you might have a damper door improperly functioning. Also on the Jeep Gran Cherokee the ac drain can stop up and cause too much water to stay in the evaporator box. This causes extra moisture to fog up the windshield as well under the right conditions. It is a very hard drain to find on some of those as have seen some that are actually "inside the frame rail"on the passenger's side. We had to drill a hole in the frame once to get to one to open it up without removing the ac unit and dash from the car as customer didn't have the funds to do that.
