Boat Pricing, Not sure what I am looking for.?

What do I need to look for here? This will be the first boat I have owned but I am experienced with smaller water craft.
I want a used model that has a small cabin (air conditioned would be nice) I live near a lake that has access to main rivers and would be using on week ends, will rent a slip on the lake to keep it. I want one that has been maintained but I am pretty good with a wrench too.
A friend said I needed a Cuddy Cabin crusier. I am hoping to find one I like in the low $20s lower would be better. My question is, is there real hope here or am I going to be finding junk in my price range?

Look for Bayliners and some older Christ Craft and Carvers are nice.I don't think you have problems finding a boat that's fot sale,they all are.Becareful look the vessel over,use a nada book,good luck
