If you have bought a faulty boat and the defects are apparent while it is still covered by warranty you get the sane degree of protection that you would have got if you were to buy a SUV, car, RV or even a computer to that matter. Many items are covered by the consumer protection rights in California, in case of boats; these are known as the Lemon laws in California for boats. Under the law, sellers of defective boats are strictly discouraged from doing so unless they let the prospective buyer know about such faults. This effectively releases the seller from any responsibility towards the repair of such defects; this is called caveat emptor in legal terms.
