Caliber Sxt
Should I get a 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT or a 2006 Chevy Cobalt 4dr 2.2L?
I have read mixed reviews on each, some people have had many problems with the AC, blinkers, tires, ect., while some people have not had a problem with any thing on either one. I dont know what to believe when I read such mixed cousomer reviews, so i was wondering if there is any independent site that reviews them and lists any problems that they have.
I dont need a car for anything special, just to get back and forth from school, and drive around town, ocasionally driving out of town (no more than 100 miles) to do stuff. most of the time i will just be in town though and have a few friends in it. i want one thats pretty good on gas, and an american car that looks good and has a pretty nice interior.
Take it from someone wh has sold both of these products and has spent conciderable amounts of time with them driving them and just sitting in them. The cobalt and the caliber are both good cars. They are not actually that comparable but they are both great cars. The consumer reviews that a lot of people find on here are from dumb angry people that don't get taht after 50,000 miles there headlamps may malfunction or the tires wear out or the AC needs to be refilled. This is were these negative reviews come from. A lot of people just don't understand what a car involves and expect a car to be perfect without any upkeep at all. These people give good cars bad raps. Like my Fiero, many people saw it and said "how cute, I think I'd like to have a small car like that." then they went and bought one, realized that it's a freaking small car, and then complained to all high hell that it was a horrible car. Well those people were purchasing outside of there needs so of course they aren't happy, they also got mad because the 4 cyl was slow. No duh it's a small car but the 4 cyl is the base model of course it's not a Race Car. See what I'm saying. So don't believe consumer reviews, they are hardly ever how you are giong to feel about the vehicle. What are your needs? if you need more loading space the get the caliber if you prefer the sedan or coupe look then get the Cobalt. This is a decision that you will need to make yourself. And all of this performance stuff I'm sure your hearing. Are either of these race cars? no, then who cares that the caliber and cobalt have heavy understeer? If you were trying for a fastest lap on the northern loop I'd say maybe not the right cars but for getting to work and home, especially for the prices, these work great.
Then which ever you prefer is going to be the better car for you. I know that the caliber has the chill zone (the little area that has a vent just above the actual glove box, if you turn the AC on and you open that vent then that box becomes a cooling area for your sack lunch or soda. And the caliber has anti stain/odor/static cloth on the seats. Also it uses a CVT2 which is kinda fun and kinda annoying, notice when you drive it that it never shifts gears. That's because it doesn't have gears!
