How do i get a motocross bike road legal?

It depends on your location if this is even possible.

First, I would check with your local DMV to see what is required and if this is even possible. These are the people you will need to satisfy to get the bike registered for street use. Do this BEFORE you spend any money on modifications.

In many locations, if the bike is designated from the factory as "For Off Road Use Only", you can not make it street legal no matter what you do. In the United States, if it has a 2 stroke engine, you will not be able to make it street legal.

If it is possible to make the bike street legal in your location you will need to add the following items.

DOT Legal headlight and tail light
Brake light
Turn signals
Horn
Mirrors
You may need to add a muffler
Change out the knobby tires for street tires
License plate mount
Insurance

You may run into problems with the lighting. Dirt Bike electrical systems are sized to operate the ignition system only. You may run into problems when you add a headlight and tail light.

With the modifications that are usually involved, you are usually better off selling your Dirt Bike and putting the money from the sale towards a motorcycle that is already street legal.

By the way. You should be grateful that your father bought you a motorcycle. You should thank him rather than be dissatisfied with the bike he gave you. Many parents would not buy their childern a motorcycle.
